WHAT IS A FOOD SENSITIVITY?
A Food Sensitivity is the result of a reaction of the immune system, which produces antibodies (IgG antibodies) to certain foods. It is thought that damage to the intestinal barrier wall plays a role, which allows undigested food proteins to pass across the gut wall into the blood circulation which then causes an elevated immune response.
Food Sensitivities are a non-life-threatening condition, but can cause significant symptoms. The reaction is usually slow to develop, occurring hours or even days after eating the offending food. Symptoms will resolve once the offending food is removed.
The reaction to different foods can be difficult to detect. However, as the food produces an antibody response (IgG antibodies) this can be picked up in a blood test.
FOOD SENSITIVITY TESTING FOR BETTER WELL-BEING
A simple blood test identifies sensitivities to common foods, including diary, eggs, gluten and wheat. These hidden sensitivities can cause ongoing discomfort and affect your health.

Testing is carried out by an accredited laboratory for dependable accuracy. With accurate results, I provide clear guidance on managing your diet to reduce symptoms, improve your digestion and support your overall well-being.

POSSIBLE CAUSES OF FOOD SENSITIVITIES
1. Poor Diet
A diet high in processed foods, refined sugars, and unhealthy fats can put stress on the digestive system. Over time, nutrient deficiencies and chronic inflammation may increase the risk of developing food sensitivities.
2. Inadequate Digestion
If your body does not break down food properly, due to low stomach acid, insufficient digestive enzymes or other issues, larger undigested food particles may enter the bloodstream, triggering immune reactions.
3. Altered Gut Microbiome
A balanced gut microbiome plays a crucial role in maintaining immune health. Disruptions to the natural gut bacteria, often caused by poor diet, stress, or illness, can make you more prone to food sensitivities.
4. Side Effects of Medication
Certain medications, particularly antibiotics, can alter the gut microbiome and weaken digestive health. This change in gut flora can lead to heightened food sensitivity over time.
5. Intestinal Infections: Parasites, Yeast, or Bacteria
Infections in the digestive tract, whether from harmful bacteria, overgrowth of yeast (such as Candida), or intestinal parasites can damage the gut lining and disrupt immune balance, contributing to ongoing food sensitivity symptoms.
By identifying and addressing these root causes, food sensitivity testing can provide valuable insights into which foods may be triggering symptoms, allowing for a more targeted and effective approach to improving digestive health and overall wellbeing.
WHAT THE TEST INVOLVES
First Appointment
During your initial Consultation a full case history will be taken, which involves both your medical health and current symptoms, along with your lifestyle and possible causes of your presenting symptoms. The Food Sensitivity test will then be carried out.

This is a simple pin prick test on a finger, only a small amount of blood is required and this is sent off to the laboratory to be tested. The Results will be available in 10-14 days.

Second Appointment
This will be made two weeks later, when a personalised diet will be created based on your unique individual food sensitivity reaction. Alternative foods will be offered along with recipes and a weekly plan suggestion of food to support the newly created diet. Possible supplements may be considered to support the gut along with lifestyle changes.
The diet is advised to be followed for three months, to rest the gut of the offending foods. Then after this time the foods will slowly be re-introduced.
Each appointment lasts an hour and costs £80.
